Contribution to Student Development: Goal 3

Goal

Provide opportunities for business students to present research at local/state/regional academic conferences.

I feel strongly about undergraduate students being given the opportunity to present their research. Since the College of Business does not have a graduate program, this seemed even more important. As my students turned in research papers, I noticed a small minority were excellent–above and beyond their peers–and worthy of consideration on a larger scale. Several students from MGMT 317 Management of Human Resources presented research at the Midwest Academy of Management (2014 & 2016). I designed my research project in BUSA 321 Applied Business Ethics to be presented at the Judith Ramaley Celebration of Scholarship, Posters at St. Paul and MNSCU Undergraduate Research Conference and required all students to create a research poster as part of their projects. Posters were also displayed in the display case, first floor Somsen Hall.
